Before to use MIDI it is preferable disable appletalk and system extensions that make use of the modem or printer port.
The new MIDI Handshaking disable option permits to receive MIDI sample packets in a faster way. If you meet with problems (wrong packet number error) receiving long samples from your synthesizer (i.e. AKAY), disable the MIDI handshaking from the option menu and/or save this configuration from the preference dialog.
Generally, it is preferable to set MIDI handshaking on to be sure that samples are transmitted and received in the right way. It is supposed you will not meet with problems transmitting samples from mac to your synth using MIDI handshaking.
If it is possible, send to me an E-Mail describing your configuration (mac, interface, synths/samplers) and if it works properly.
